I’ve only ever had one real #hotelgoal in life… to stay in one of those funky buildings with a giant vertical garden covering it! I lusted to stay in a tropical oasis in the middle of the city. Now I can now say I’ve lived that dream at Oasia Hotel Downtown Singapore and it was just as glorious as I had imagined, well much better in fact!
Vertical garden and forest hotels have started to take off world-wide. They are becoming popular in countries desperate to counteract high population and pollution levels, to restore wellness, clean air and nature to the towering urban jungles. Oasia Hotel Downtown takes things to a new level with a 30-metre sky garden terrace positioned on level 12 to create some serious chill!
Oasia Hotel Downtown is a tropical respite in amongst the bustling city vibe of Singapore, however all the ‘must-see’ attractions are a hop, skip and jump away! You never really know just how jam-packed the island of Singapore is until you get there. Whilst you can drive from one side to another in 40 minutes, the modern metropolis is brimming with so many sights to see.
Centrally located in the downtown CBD district of Tanjong Pagar, Oasia Hotel Downtown is a 2-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT train station. It’s just minutes away from Raffles Place, Clarke Quay, Sentosa, Orchard Road and a 7 minute drive (3.5km) to Gardens by the Bay. There’s also plenty of restaurants and bars within a 1 to 2-minute walk and even a shopping plaza just across the road!
Your first impression of Oasia Hotel Downtown starts from blocks away! This ‘not-so-secret’ garden hotel towers majestically in the Singapore skyline, covered in a lush green vertical wall with a striking red structure underneath.
Oasia Hotel Downtown aims to recharge, refuel and refresh travellers, this starts the second you check-in when you are taken to the open sky terrace on level 12. This living, breathing sanctuary towers above you, with décor using a combination of lush foliage, copper, wood and stone. I was advised that they run free yoga classes on Sunday’s and whilst it had been a while since I busted out a downward dog, but I was keen to give it a go!
I was then introduced to the Club level with a lush infinity pool, the hotel’s cred continued to skyrocket in my books! I was greeted with an alluring waft of cucumber and lime (where do all the swanky hotels get their fragrances from!) as I entered another little pocket of nirvana on the Club level.
If you have the budget to upgrade to a Club room, do it! Not only do you get to hang out by the infinity pool in relaxation shacks (#becauseshack), but you’ll also have access to tasty little delicacies in the club lounge all day. The Club lounge also includes free alcoholic drinks and canapes between 6-8pm and as many Singapore Sling’s as your heart desires (alcohol in Singapore ain’t cheap!).
The hotel’s modern eco style reflects into the beautifully appointed rooms, combining wood finishes with contemporary copper furnishings, neutral colours, clean lines and floor to ceiling windows.
Oasia Hotel Downtown also includes a ‘Handy’ smartphone in each room for hotel guests to use during their stay. This local travel buddy is a saviour for navigating around town, purchasing cheaper tickets to main attractions and getting the latest city info. Plus, who doesn’t love feeling like a spy with a secret burner phone?!
Beautiful views can be seen just wandering around the stunning sky garden and chill out spaces which are designed to capture cooling breezes. You get a stunning outlook of the Singapore city from most of the 314 rooms in the hotel and an inviting skyline from the infinity pool. There’s also a rooftop area with colourful hanging chairs, pools and tropical plants that create a visual delight.
